The Five Best Kevin Hart Movies Of His Career

The Five Best Kevin Hart Movies Of His Career

Alright, folks, let’s talk Kevin Hart. The man. The myth. The… well, the very funny guy who’s everywhere. It’s tough to pick just a few from his massive movie catalog. He’s been in so many, it feels like he’s in charge of Hollywood at this point. But if you twisted my arm, and maybe bribed me with some of those delicious M&Ms he always talks about, I’d try to give you my top five. Now, these might not be everyone’s picks. You might be thinking, “Where’s that one?” And that’s okay! This is just my personal, slightly goofy, Kevin Hart movie party. So grab your popcorn, get comfy, and let’s dive in!

First up, and this is a big one for me, has to be Ride Along. Now, I know, I know. Some people might say it’s silly. And yeah, it’s pretty darn silly. But that’s why we love it, right? Ice Cube as the grumpy, by-the-book cop is the perfect foil for Kevin’s loudmouthed, wannabe-cop character, Ben. Their chemistry is off the charts. You can just feel them annoying each other in the best way possible. Every time Ben does something ridiculous, and Ice Cube’s face just crumbles, you can’t help but laugh. It’s got that buddy-cop energy that just works. It’s pure, unadulterated fun. Plus, it’s got a surprising amount of heart. They actually become friends by the end. Who knew?!

Next on my list, we’re going with Central Intelligence. This movie is a hidden gem, in my opinion. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart. What a combo! The Rock plays a super-spy, all muscles and suave moves, and Kevin plays his old high school buddy, Calvin, who’s just trying to live a normal life. The contrast is hilarious. You’ve got this massive action hero and this tiny, easily flustered comedian. The plot involves some spy stuff, but honestly, it’s all about the banter. Kevin’s reactions to all the insane spy situations are priceless. He’s the everyman thrown into a world of danger, and we get to experience it all through his terrified eyes. It’s got action, it’s got laughs, and it’s got The Rock being awesome. What more could you ask for?

Now, for number three, I’m going with Get Hard. This one is… well, it’s definitely for mature audiences. But it’s also surprisingly sharp. Will Ferrell plays a rich guy who’s about to go to prison and doesn’t know how to survive. So, he hires Kevin Hart’s character, Darnell, to teach him how to “get hard.” The premise is ridiculous, and that’s what makes it work. Kevin plays it so straight, you almost believe he’s a hardened criminal, and Will Ferrell is just… Will Ferrell. Their interactions are gold. It’s got some great moments of social commentary wrapped up in all the silliness. It’s one of those movies that’s funnier the second time you watch it, because you catch jokes you missed the first time.

And then there's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Okay, this might not be a Kevin Hart solo movie, but he’s such a crucial part of the ensemble, it has to be on my list. He plays Fridge, who gets turned into The Rock's character's avatar. The idea of Kevin Hart trapped in The Rock's body is just comedic genius. His voice coming out of that muscular frame? Pure gold. The whole movie is a blast, a really fun reboot of the original. But Kevin’s performance, and the sheer absurdity of it all, really elevate it. He’s got to deal with being super strong and everyone’s expectations, while still being his classic Kevin Hart self. It’s a perfect blend of action, adventure, and hilarious character work.

And finally, to round out my personal Kevin Hart top five, I’m going with The Upside. This is a bit more of a departure for him. It’s a dramedy, meaning it’s got funny bits, but also some serious stuff. He plays Dell, a guy who’s trying to turn his life around and ends up becoming a caregiver for a wealthy paralyzed man, played by Bryan Cranston. Now, Bryan Cranston is a legend. And the chemistry between these two is something special. Kevin brings so much heart to this role. He’s still funny, but you also see his vulnerability and his determination. It’s a story about friendship, overcoming obstacles, and finding your place in the world. It’s genuinely touching and uplifting, and it shows a different side to Kevin Hart’s talent. It proves he can do more than just make us laugh until we cry; he can also make us feel. And that’s pretty special.

So there you have it. My completely unofficial, totally subjective, and definitely debatable list of the five best Kevin Hart movies. Did your favorite make the cut? Probably not. But hey, that’s the beauty of movies, right? There’s something for everyone. And Kevin Hart? He’s definitely made a whole lot of something for a whole lot of people. Keep laughing, Kevin! We’re all here for it.
